DDM - Deseret Digital

  • Salt Lake City, UT, USA

  • Full Time

Deseret Digital Media (DDM) is the online division of Deseret Media Companies (DMC) we're really into acronyms, we're like NASA that way. Anyhoo, DDM manages KSL.com and Utah.com (among others).  All of our sites collectively reach over 7 million unique users generating nearly 300 million page-views each month.

So, what position are we trying to hire?

DDM is currently looking for a Creative Coordinator to help us manage and coordinate the myriad of straight up awesome projects we are working on in the Marketplace group. We're the group everyone likes (but don't tell the rest of the company we said that). Whoever survives the gauntlet of interviews will be responsible for keeping our creative, marketing, and product teams on task and meeting project timelines.

And what will the Creative Coordinator do?

Well, we're looking for someone who will be integral to the completion of each project and is responsible to manage the process from start to finish. We also require that you occasionally wear really fancy pants (now, we admittedly have a pretty solid preconceived notion of what fancy pants are, but if you disagree we'll totally give you a chance to explain).

This role will oversee and implement the creative production process for marketing and product development projects. This person needs to tell good jokes and be able to work well with many different personalities and skillsets.

Here's a handy bulleted list of some of the responsibilities:

  • Intake new jobs from internal clients (including marketing, product, and occasionally leadership teams)
  • Ensure all requirement details and assets for the job are included in the creative brief
  • Create timelines and ensure that all stakeholders adhere to them
  • Assign jobs to and manage timelines for designers and/or freelancers
  • Manage comp reviews including posting and notification of reviews needing stakeholder feedback, then gather and compile feedback and changes for the creative team
  • Coordinate photo and video shoots
  • Quality check jobs for spelling/grammar and accurate specs before sending off to developers or printers
  • Check that jobs are archived properly
  • Be an advocate of our process to our clients
  • Reviewing UI components with designers to ensure the finished product matches the comps

This position will report to the Creative Director (he looks pretty intimidating, but he's a real nice fellow). The ideal candidate could begin immediately (or some close approximation to "immediately").

We liked that bulleted list we did before. Here's one for the required skills:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic understanding of design in the following fields (UI, brand, and marketing)
  • Very detail oriented and a superb ability to multitask (we really like that word "superb" and don't feel it is used enough)
  • Must be able to manage multiple timelines for many different projects
  • Customer service driven (meaning "Be Nice" is a mantra you subscribe to)
  • Be able to work under pressure
  • Open to working cheerfully with all members of the creative team and our internal clients (we originally wanted someone to work "jovially" with team members, but found our Creative Team doesn't respond well to "jovial")
  • Be able to hold team and clients accountable to deadlines
  • Negotiating skills are a must
  • Don't take yourself too seriously I mean don't get us wrong we work hard, but c'mon...timelines and deliverables would bury us all if we didn't laugh a little now and then
  • Knowledge of Agile software development a plus

DDM offers:

  • Competitive salary
  • Exceptional benefits and contributing 401(k)
  • Flexible PTO
  • Excellent opportunities for advancement
  • Free and unlimited soda, a pool table, a somewhat paltry nut bar, and the chance to work with spectacularly awesome people

This job is a pretty sweet opportunity for a performance-driven, detail-oriented individual interested in a dynamic and growing organization working towards world domination (okay that's a bit much we really just want to create great products that have a positive impact on people's lives). If this sounds like you, submit your resume today.
